Today we play it a little closer to home.
Away we go...
Towards the end of July we attended the Klassic Open Air festivals in Nurnberg. In 2000 the city of Nurnberg held the Klassic Open Air to celebrate their 950th anniversary (yeah, thats old) and since then it has become a biannual event in which 50,000 people wander to the park to attend. Many family and friends gather in the park to enjoy the music, food, company of others, and fireworks. It is not unusual to see groups sitting in the middle of the park at proper dining room tables with candeloberas, fine china, and spread of gourmet food.
We are not those people. But we tried, with our group of friends, little bottles of wine, and cheeses sprawled out on blankets.
This is Josh's most favorite cheese in the whole world. He accidentally got it once while trying to get Piave, and has since been lucky to get the same thing when he asks for Switzerland Mountain Cheese Schweizer at Karstadt. Its a little pricey, but totally worth it.
Nils pouring Julia a drink.
Red, stripes, stripes, red, stripes, red...
They give everyone sparklers and at the same time everyone lights them up together. It was very very cool.
Were looking forward to going back next year. It was a pretty good substitute for Fourth of July.
Check back tomorrow when we travel to Germanys mountainside.
